As Mrs. Austin, her four children, and their Grandpa leave Christmas Eve service, they look forward to enjoying their beloved Christmas traditions before going to bed. They all hope Dad will be home from his hospital duties, but his car is not yet in driveway. Then some unexpected visitors and a naughty dog make it anything but a typical Christmas Eve. The book is a sturdy hardcover with silky pages and charming illustrations by Mary Chambers. This is a somewhat rare book.
